Assistant Teacher, Infant/Tweeny Program

We are looking to fill one opening for an assistant teacher in our infant/tweeny program. This position assists the lead teacher with managing the infant and tweeny classrooms. This position could be full-time (40 hours) or part-time (15 to 17.5 hours). Shifts include 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You must have a high school diploma and two years of experience working with children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years. Employment is contingent upon passing a successful background check.

Assistant teachers are responsible for assisting lead teachers with daily activities within the classroom for their respective age group. The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to ensure that each child’s developmental needs, as well as the long-range goals of the program, are being met. This includes creating an environment of caring and warmth, arranging and maintaining equipment and the environment, and meeting all program requirements. The Assistant Teacher may be asked to fill in when the Lead Teacher is absent. Staff members are expected to support and adhere to the Center’s mission, philosophies, and policies; maintain confidentiality regarding personnel, families, children, and program matters; and meet the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations.

The Assistant Teacher is responsible to work in cooperation with, and under the guidance of, the Lead Teacher. Staff members are expected to serve as role models to promote an atmosphere of good will, team spirit, openness, and sharing in all interactions with children, staff, and parents.
