Canton Day Care Center is currently fundraising for our capital campaign to support the completion of our second floor. This critical project includes essential safety upgrades identified by our local code enforcement office, which must be completed by October 31, 2026. These upgrades are vital to maintaining a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for the children and families we serve.
The work will include:
- Installing a drop ceiling in the hallways, classroom and storage room.
- Installing new smoke detectors throughout designated areas.
- Turning down existing sprinklers and attaching new sprinkler heads.
- Installing automatic door closures.
- Partitioning the upstairs level from the stairwell for improved fire safety.
- Installing a light at the main entrance connected to emergency backup power.
- Adding a sprinkler and smoke detector at the entrance.
The Center has been awarded a pair of matching grants from the Canton Community Fund and the Northern New York Community Foundation totaling $10,000 to support these critical facility safety and infrastructure upgrades. These matching grants will double the impact of community contributions and help accelerate essential improvements that enhance safety, compliance, and day-to-day operations for our children and staff.
