We extend a big thank you to the Thompson-Weatherup Family Charitable Foundation of the Northern New York Community Foundation for partnering with us to challenge the community to raise $40,000 toward our capital campaign!
Esther Weatherup Thompson passed away on July 26, 2017, at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton, where she had been a resident for six years. During her time as a resident of Maplewood, Esther enjoyed watching the children of the Canton Day Care Center play and grow, as she had an acute interest in education for young people. Her aim was to encourage children to obtain skills that would help them grow to their potential. That desire is the impetus for this gift from the Thompson-Weatherup Family Charitable Foundation.
In memory of Esther, her family created a slideshow to honor her life and commitment to education throughout it.
In 2009, Robert M. and Esther Weatherup Thompson celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with their ten children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther spent more than 40 years educating and shaping the young lives of her children and fostering the development of hardworking, responsible, and respectable young adults. Her interest in and commitment to children shapes the family’s desire to support the Canton Day Care Center in its quest to expand services and provide a nurturing environment for more children to grow, discover, and learn.
We did it… with your help!
Through this challenge, we were able to raise $15,007 from individual contributions in just two short months! With the generosity of the Thompson-Weatherup Family Charitable Foundation dollar-for-dollar match, that brings the total raised from this challenge to $30,014. Amazing!
